Chef Antonio Mellino
RISTORANTE QUATTRO PASSI
MASSA LUBRENSE, CAMPANIA
After graduating from the exclusive Naples Hotel School, Antonio Mellino began his career in 1974 as a waiter on cruiser liners. However, Mellino's dream was to start a restauran in his hometown of Nerano. In 1984, the dream was realized when he opened Quattro Passi. In 1997, Antonio won the Pommery award from Espresso Magazine and in 1998, the Italian Academy of Cuisine presented him with the Pastai d'Italia award. Then in 1999, the Meridien chain called him to Japan to organize cooking courses based on cuisine from the Campania region.
In November, 2000 upon his return from promoting Campania cuisine at Switzerland's finest restaurants, Mellino was delighted to learn that the Michelin guide had awarded him one of its elusive stars.
